    Van Cleef & Arpels

    As an off shoot of L’ecole de Van Cleef & Arpel’s based at Place Vendome, which aims to share the culture of high jewelry through history sessions, and goldsmith skills sessions, ‘Salone’ in Tokyo was organized to bring creators from various discipline to exchange their ideas. For each salone, two creators which would seem to have nothing in common were challenged to talk about one theme. Architect Sou Fujimoto and creative director of the jeweler Nicolas Bos, each shared their approach to building architecture and composing jewelry, which have similarity in the making process. Japanese jazz pianist Makoto Ozone and an art historian specializes on art nouveau movement were challenged to discuss about influence of art nouveau on music. On another evening, gemologist from the jeweler and chef from Joel Robuchon shared their idea about diamond and truffles. Each evening gave audience an intriguing insight to two totally different discipline but have common essence through discussion.
